   PLACES TO SEE

Karnataka is an enchanting land abounding in scenic beauty, rich is flora and fauna. It has pomp and pageantry of glorious traditions and marvels of modern engineering. Young Island Resorts is very close to some of the most famous places in India.

  SRIRANGAPATNA
     
  Just 2 kms from Young Island Resorts. Srirangapatna is an island town encircled by river Cauvery. The temple of Lord Sriranganatha is said to have been built by the Chieftain Thirumalaiah in 894 AD. This was once the capital of Hyderali & his son Tippu Sultan, "The Tiger of Mysore". In the 18 th century, Marathas attacked Srirangapatna & forced heavy payments. Hyder drew back the Marathas & saved the Kingdom. In 1799 Tippu fought a fierce Battle (Battle of Mysore) against the British & fell bravely defending his capital.
   
  RANGANATHITTU
     
  Just 4 Kms from Young Island Resorts and 18 Kms from Mysore. Rangathittu is a bird sanctuary that houses exotic birds. Birds from as far away as Siberia and even North America make their home here. Crocodiles basking in the sun is also a familiar sight. The best season to visit is between January and March.
     
  MYSORE
     
 

Just 12 kms from Young Island Resorts. A cheerful city with many admirers, blessed with easygoing charm, salubrious climate, thriving trade and a rich heritage.

Yaduraya, the first of the Wodeyars, came to Hadinadu (Mysore as it was known then) in 1399 AD. The city did not reach any dizzying heights during his reign. However, under the aegis of Chamaraja III, the city took shape and many of its monuments were built.

   
  SOMANTHAPUR
     
 

45 Kms east is this famous village which has the 13th century Hoysala Temple. The temple is in excellent condition has frescoed exteriors with episodes from the epics.
